Generic Zepdon (Isentress)

Common use

Zepdon is used as part of combination antiretroviral therapy for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. It works by inhibiting the HIV integrase enzyme, preventing the virus from inserting its genetic material into human cells and reducing the viral load.

Dosage and direction

Zepdon is usually taken twice daily with or without food, depending on the prescribed formulation. Tablets should be swallowed whole. Follow your healthcare provider’s dosage instructions carefully and take it consistently for best results.

Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have a history of liver disease, muscle disorders, depression, or other medical conditions. Report symptoms such as muscle pain, weakness, or mood changes. Do not stop the medication without medical guidance, as this may worsen HIV control.

Contraindications

Zepdon should not be used by individuals with known hypersensitivity to raltegravir or any component of the formulation. Use cautiously in patients with severe liver impairment.

Possible side effect

Common side effects include headache, nausea, fatigue, trouble sleeping, and dizziness. Less common but serious effects may include muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis), liver issues, or severe allergic reactions. Seek medical attention for severe symptoms.

Drug interaction

Zepdon may interact with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, rifampicin, certain anticonvulsants, and other HIV medications. Always inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking.

Missed dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double doses.

Overdose

Overdose symptoms may include severe dizziness, nausea, or vomiting. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected.

Storage

Store Zepdon at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight. Keep it in its original container and out of reach of children.
